Here at Ravenswood Blue Pit Bull Kennel we appreciate each everyone of you who take the time to drop in and visit our site. We would like to introduce you to our family and share with you how we became to love the American Pit Bull Terrier.

My name is Ronald Jeffery, I grew up in Smith Creek right outside of Port Huron, Mi. In the country there wasn't much to do, so as a kid I had to be creative to have fun. Often I would find myself running through the woods discovering nature and taking bike rides around the long country blocks. Discovering nature was exciting but had it's down falls; like raccoons nursing, raging wood chucks, posums, and stray dogs. While riding the long blocks I would often run into vicious dogs. Fed up with this and knowing my 8th birthday was in a few days, I decided to ask for a dog. My mom was leary but took me to the local dog pound anyway. At the pound there were alot of dogs but none of them fit my country lifestyle, except for one in particular. This bad boy was short to the ground, had a head of a lion and muscles raging out of his compact body. I thought to myself "Jack Pot" and I had to have it. Apparently my mom looked at me and said 'no chance".
With the hopes of getting my mom to get the dog I asked one of the staff "what kind of dog is that and he replied "pit bull terrier but we don't adopt this breed out". Sad, I went home and slept the rest of the day. The day before my b-day on a bus ride to school I met a new kid.

We became good friends but before the day was over we had made plans so that I could go to his house and meet his family and pets.
He had two male buvia & lab mixed pups. One of them, they were keeping and the other they couldn't find a home for. I told my new friend "look no further, I will take it, it wasn't a pit bull but he would do. I took him home and named him Mr. Fuge, we had a very long companionship that was full of memories.
Years went by and I moved to Texas for a year and half at the age of 20 and I met my future wife Cheryl and our daughter. Pit bulls were everywhere and where ever they were is where I stopped to see them. Home sick and ready for my new family to meet my family we moved to back to Michigan in my childhood home. Shortly after a friend of mine and I were looking at an ad in the paper and there was a listing for pit bull pups. We went to check them out and I found a red one with white markings. I had finally got my first pit bull pup! Cheryl named him Kobe, we would go for long runs and hikes through the woods which he enjoyed. In fact, he enjoyed them so much that he would slip through his collar and stay in the woods for days at a time, returning home to only eat and sleep. I spent more time chasing him. The only thing I could think of was to get him a play mate. I went to the local pound and again rescued another pit bull which was a fawn female pit pup that was fixing to be euthanized that same day, knowing this I knew I had to save her. She reacted to the first name that I called her and that was "Flower". One of the staff asked me if that was the dog that I was looking for and I replied "yes", the paperwork was filled out and the boarding fee paid. That day I walked out with the best dog I had ever owned before. When she walked through our front door the first thing she did was prance across the living room floor like she had lived there forever. She had the qualities of a pit bull that we were looking for and was everything that we could ever ask for in a dog. We had Flower for 7 years, unfortunately on our oldest son's 7th b-day last year she passed away and till this day she is still missed.
After her passing we bought our new house and 5 months later, Shadow & Breech at the age of 3 months came into our lives. They have been a great addition to our family, they are adored and have bought joy to our hearts. After getting to know our neighbors really well we met Ken who shares the same interest in pit bulls, two heads are better than one as they say. Ravenswood Blue Pit Bull Kennel was born. |
